Halloween Decor Ideas for 2024

Now that the kids are back at school and the leaves are starting to fall, it’s time to start decorating for Halloween!

Halloween brings some of the best colors into our homes and it’s a super fun time for the kids with plenty for them to get involved in. But how exactly can we get the Halloween decorations right so that they are stylish and sophisticated?

We love to celebrate the changing seasons at Innovatus Design and have come up with some fun and stylish Halloween Decor ideas! Let’s take a closer look.

Color Scheme

We love to choose a color scheme for decorating the house, before shopping for items. This means that you have a clear idea of what to look out for and can help narrow down the search. Not only that, it helps to keep the ideas in your mind when placing items in the home.

For Halloween there is a temptation for going all out and buying everything in sight. However, this can create an overwhelming look to a space. Instead, choose a specific color or two that complements your home already.

Fan of neutrals? Choose cream and black decorative accessories to enhance the look with a Halloween feel. You could even add a few pieces of burnt orange here and there to inject a pop of color!

Another popular color scheme is purple and black! This creates a moody yet sophisticated look throughout and is perfect for the spookiness of Halloween.

Prefer to keep it simple? Stick to all black! There is something really elegant and chic about keeping Halloween decor to just black. It will definitely create a “wow” factor!

Now that you’ve narrowed down a color scheme, you can keep this in mind for our decor ideas coming up!

Pumpkins – How Many Ways?!

It wouldn’t be Halloween without some pumpkins!

Real pumpkins are great for getting the kids involved and having fun. They look great outside on the front porch too. But what about inside our homes?

There are loads of different pumpkin-inspired accessories for use inside the home. Think knitted pumpkins, glass pumpkin ornaments, pumpkin shaped candles, and even paper pumpkins! Blend a few of these different decorative pumpkins in your home to create a textured and layered look.

I love using fabric or knitted pumpkins in varying sizes around the home to switch up styled areas. They look great as bowl fillers and dotted around on console tables or coffee tables too!

Candles

Set the tone for the season with candles! Scented or unscented – candles help to create a cozy atmosphere in any space. The darker evenings and cooler weather calls for more intimate and cozy nights inside and candles are a must-have for this!

Have you seen the many different designs of candles? Popular designs include ghosts, skulls, spines, and floating eyeballs!

Lanterns are also a great addition to any home for Halloween and can help to create a spooky setup next to the fireplace or on the front porch.

Decorative Accessories and Ornaments

Ornaments are a quick and easy way of adding a decorative touch to any space.

Fancy going all out with decorations this year? Choose decorative props: wall signs, life-size coffins, and even decorative mannequins!

For a more elegant look, choose pumpkin inspired accessories, decorative skulls, black ornaments, black feathered door wreaths and even dark faux foliage for vases!

Front Porch Decor

As you know I’m a huge lover of front door wreaths. Halloween is a great opportunity to be creative with them and incorporate some of the ideas we have shared above into a wreath. Pumpkins and fall colors are great for Halloween wreaths!

For your porch area specifically, use garlands to frame your front door, lanterns, and pumpkins for displaying on the porch itself, and even some string lights to add moodiness to the area.
