Yes, the basis of a bedroom typically contains the same furniture pieces, but you can completely elevate the design of a bedroom through bedside lighting. There are many different types of Bedside Lighting now that can change the whole look and feel of the space.

How to Recognize Bedside Lighting

Bedside lighting refers to any light source that is either side of the bed, within a bedroom. Traditionally, this is a table lamp positioned on the nightstand. However there are various modern options that homeowners are loving at the moment!  

Some bedside lighting will include small LED directional wall lights that aid with bedtime reading, or even ceiling mounted pendant lights! These are a more contemporary choice but completely transform a space.

We are also seeing more instances where floor lamps are used beside the bed which is a fun and playful way of lighting a bedroom!

Before gas and electric lights, candles and oil lamps were used to light inside houses. It wasn’t until the 1910s – 1930s that electricity was rolled out throughout the country and chandeliers were installed. At the beginning this was only an exposed Edison bulb.

Nowadays, installing additional cables for new lighting and electrical outlets is relatively straightforward to do! Which is why changing light fixtures has become popular.

Many of us still enjoy lighting candles because of the calm atmosphere it provides a space, however to create a comprehensive lighting design in a bedroom, different types of lights are required. Bedside lighting is often softer so it creates a more intimate ambience.
