No matter what size of laundry room you have – a small full-height cabinet or a more elaborate space – your laundry room can be designed to be glam.
In this Shop the Look article we focus on Glam Laundry Rooms and explore our top design ideas on how you can create one in your home.
Let’s take a closer look at Glam Laundry Rooms and how you can create one too!

How to Recognize a Glam Laundry Room
A glam laundry room is not only a room dedicated to organizing and doing the laundry, it’s a highly practical room with thoughtful design-led elements. Typically you will find open shelving with labeled baskets, storage cabinets, a sink, hanging rails, and more! Once a utilitarian area, a glam laundry room also has luxurious materials and surfaces.
To create a glam laundry room, it’s important to evaluate what you need and what elements will make doing the laundry even easier. Short on space? Wall mounted drying racks could be the answer! If you can, incorporate a pull-out shelf underneath the appliances to place the washing basket on. It’s a lifesaver when loading the machines!

Laundry Room Fun Facts:
Keeping the home clean and tidy has been proven to be beneficial for our mental health, and having a space dedicated to storing cleaning products and doing the laundry makes this experience even better! There’s nothing more satisfying than finishing the family’s washing and ironing for the week in a practical space fit for purpose. The laundry room should feature hard wearing materials, such as: floor tiles or luxury vinyl tile appropriate for high traffic environments and durable cabinets.
Originally, laundry was first done in streams. This allowed for the water to carry away any particles that caused stains and smells. The clothes or sheets would be rubbed, twisted or slapped against flat rocks.
More recently during the 1900s a rub board was used in bathtubs or sinks and clothes would be scrubbed on the board. This was before we saw the washing machines we know today, become common in the 1950’s.
