Kids Play Spaces Design
A space dedicated to our little ones doesn’t have to break the bank. It can be as simple or as elaborate as you wish, so long as it functions well. Whether you’re looking to create a Kids’ Play Space or give your existing kids space a freshen up, there are some key aspects to ensure you include.
In this Shop the Look feature, I’m going to share my top tips and ideas on creating a Kids Play Space that is perfect for your little ones to enjoy for many years to come!

How to Recognize Kids Play Space Design
Creating a Kids’ Play Space is simpler than you may initially think! A kids’ play space is either a whole room dedicated to creativity and playfulness, or a simple corner to a living room. There’s no right or wrong in terms of the amount of space you have to dedicate to your kids playing. It’s all about creating a balance between floor space for the kids to play, and accessible storage.
A kids play space will typically have an indoor/outdoor area rug to define the space and provide a soft surface for playing. There is usually some storage bins or baskets, along with a storage cabinet for keeping toys tidy when not in use. If your kids play space is to one side of a living room or family room, you may want to ensure any storage bins look more stylish.
You can also style the space with fun wall art, simple furniture, string lights, or even a tee-pee!

Kids Spaces – Fun Facts:
Sometimes homeowners refer to kids’ play spaces as a “playroom”! This originates back to even before the 1900s when the children of wealthy families would be given a dedicated room in which to play in. This approach to encouraging kids to play within a confined space in the home is a concept that is still relevant even today.
Today though, a kids’ play space can be almost anywhere in the home! Gone are the days of sticking to old school etiquette – kids should be embracing their fun and playfulness. While it may not be possible to create a dedicated room to a kids playing space, even just a corner that neatly keeps their toys together is enough to give them a sense of presence.
