This year I’ve made it my mission to start organizing my home better. It’s time to have a declutter and get some new storage solutions in place to organize everything. A New Year is a great time for doing this and I strongly encourage you to do the same!

One space I always avoid when it comes to organizing is the kitchen. Haven’t used the crock pot last year? But we might need it again! It’s no wonder our kitchens become full of “stuff”! Kitchen Storage solutions may seem overwhelming but they can be a total lifesaver if implemented correctly!

Kitchen storage isn’t only about cabinet storage, it’s about countertop storage solutions, drawer storage, and making the most of your cabinet space! Kitchen storage can be recognized through spice racks or storage solutions in drawers or cabinets, storage canisters on the counter, under sink storage, pull-out racks, and stylish storage bins or canisters. Typically, anything that makes your life easier in the kitchen by being about to find things easily (without items getting lost at the back of cabinets!) will be down to good kitchen storage.

Traditionally every kitchen was adjacent to a pantry where food was stored. These would have been kept in wicker baskets or canisters.

There were quite a few years in the mid to late 1900s where the pantry became a “pantry cupboard”. This was either a smaller room adjacent to the kitchen or simply a cabinet designated to storing food items.

Nowadays many homeowners need to get creative with storage in the kitchen! Some homes are not blessed with a walk-in pantry, meaning that even a small sized kitchen needs to store many different items from cleaning products, to food items, and crockery.
