Outdoor Poufs
I don’t know about you, but I love it when the days start to get longer and the sun is shining. My family and I were able to spend a weekend enjoying the weather in the backyard recently! We love to spend time playing outside and soaking up the warm sun. Creating an outdoor living space has been important for us, so my husband and I can enjoy watching the kids play during the day, and enjoy some quiet time come the evening.
Adding a decorative touch – that is also practical and helpful – to your outdoor living space has never been easier! Outdoor Poufs can elevate your outdoor living area so in this Shop the Look feature I’m going to share my top tips and ideas on how you can use Outdoor Poufs to create a stylish and fun outdoor area that doesn’t compromise on functionality!
How to Recognize an Outdoor Pouf
An outdoor pouf is visually similar to an ottoman or pouf that you would find inside, in a living room or family room. The main difference is the fabric and construction of an outdoor pouf – they have been designed specifically to withstand an outdoor environment, and any weather conditions that comes with it. Outdoor poufs are large cushions that sit directly on the floor, and are either soft (like a bean-bag) or quite rigid like a footstool.
Fun Facts:
Did you know that an ottoman and pouf are different? Ottomans were first introduced in Turkey during the “ottoman empire” of the late 18th Century. Ottomans are an upholstered seat or bench with solid base, without arms or back. While a pouf is stuffed with foam or filling and is more decorative. Poufs are typically lower to the ground than an ottoman, and originates from France!
Nowadays, both an ottoman and pouf are constructed similarly, and can generally be used as a temporary seat, footstool or decorative piece. Sometimes these can be used as a coffee table substitute! Both pieces of furniture are super versatile, as they can add an additional seat or simply provide a decorative touch to a space. We love using poufs in our designs for this reason!
