Teen Bedrooms
For any parent, the goal is to create a safe and happy home for their kids. But as they grow older, their safe haven becomes their bedroom. This is perfectly normal and also provides a great bonding opportunity for you and your teenager to work together to create a cozy bedroom space for them to retreat to. But how do you do this?
In this Shop the Look feature I’m going to share my top tips and ideas on creating the perfect Teen Bedroom and talk through the key elements to include!

How to Recognize a Teen Bedroom
Ordinarily, a teenager’s bedroom is a mess! Clothes everywhere, makeup on surfaces, gaming consoles pulled out with exposed wiring, bed sheets not made – the list can go on and on. However many teenagers use their bedrooms as a retreat from the outside world and love to create a cozy space for themselves. You can help them to create this cozy haven so that they can personalize it.
A teen bedroom is usually a neutral space or blank canvas, with pops of their favorite color. Don’t be afraid to paint a feature wall or add some wall paneling! This helps to add character and personality into the space.
Your teenager may be all over TikTok and Instagram trends and want to re-create specific looks. This is great that they love on trend decor, but can be a nightmare for parents! By giving them a neutral space to begin with, they can personalize it themselves, and offer to help them add in budget friendly on-trend decorative accessories.

Teen Bedroom Fun Facts:
Teen bedrooms are all about expression and showcasing their emerging personality and key interests. About 100 years ago, every member of the family used to have nearly the same decorating style in their bedrooms / throughout the home. It was a different time altogether back then, with many siblings sharing bedrooms.
Nowadays, teenagers having their own bedrooms is far more common and allows them to have their own “safe space” to retreat to. It’s also a key area for them to express themselves through color, pattern, and decorative accessories.
