Thanksgiving Table Décor

One of my favorite aspects of preparing for Thanksgiving is the table décor! It’s an opportunity to get creative and create a wonderful tablescape for all the guests (and myself!) to enjoy on the day. There are a few key pieces that I swear by using and wanted to share some of this year’s Thanksgiving Table Décor must-haves. Let’s explore some Thanksgiving Table Décor ideas!

Thanksgiving Table Décor

Whenever I’m thinking about Thanksgiving Décor I always try to keep the theme of celebrating the harvest at the forefront. Burnt orange, yellow, red and natural linen, cream and browns are all associated with this and provide a beautiful color palette to work with! Decorative pumpkins, large serving platters, colorful table runners, and faux wheat and pampas grasses all help to dress your table for Thanksgiving.

Fun Facts:

Here in the US, Thanksgiving dates back as early as the 1600s. The holiday was prompted by “the good harvest” of the previous year and as a celebration and thanks for the safety and health of all the family and those involved in harvesting the land. The first Thanksgiving in 1621 lasted three days in total and was the first large feast. Thanksgiving is celebrated in the US, Canada, Grenada, Saint Lucia, and Liberia. There are similar holidays in both Germany and Japan too.

Nowadays, Thanksgiving is a huge holiday where all the family gather, enjoy food, and celebrate everyone’s good health. Everyone who gathers gives thanks and enjoys spending time with their loved ones.

Thanksgiving Table Décor has evolved a lot since the 1600s! And in many ways is compared to those decorations seen around Christmas time, but there is more color choice for Thanksgiving. The emphasis is put on to harvest colors (orange, yellow, brown, and red), the theme of the decorations (all about the harvest of crops), and the meaning behind the holiday – giving thanks.
