We love injecting personality into the spaces we design, and the bathroom should be no different! While using colorful towels and accessories can help with this, we love how the design industry is moving more towards adding color through the actual fixtures themselves!

Colorful bathroom fixtures were everywhere in the 70’s and 80’s, and many trends have come back around. Particularly in the fashion industry, but also with interior design too! This time though, colorful bathroom fixtures look quite different than back then. There are more options available now, including different shades of colors, and more sleek and modern styles too.

How to use colorful bathroom fixtures 

Adding colorful bathroom fixtures into your bathroom can be relatively easy in theory! 

So long as you’re not doing a complete bathroom remodel and changing where plumbing points are in the room, swapping your vanity sink, toilet or faucets should be almost a straight swap! You will need to get a plumber to do this though.

Colorful bathroom fixtures can add a much needed source of energy into an otherwise bland and boring space. We love to use colorful bathroom fixtures that are cohesive with other colors used in the bathroom. For example, the tiles could be a different shade of the same color sink, and colorful accessories used to tie everything together.

For that reason, make sure you think carefully about the new bathroom fixture, and make sure you are making the update because you absolutely love it, and not just because it’s trendy right now. Interior design trends come and go so make sure you are happy with your choice for 5+ years to come.

As with any other design decision, it’s important to consider it carefully. If you love a timeless home that never goes out of style, it’s worth considering whether a colored sink aligns with this. Using colorful bathroom fixtures in your home is a bold move – one that we encourage for the right client! – but can easily backfire too.

In order to make sure you love your new colorful bathroom fixtures, look at all the different options on the market so you can make an informed decision. Instead of choosing a black sink, why not choose a dark gray instead? This will look less overwhelming in a space and be easier to get used to.
