Why we love it!

Linear Pendant Lights are available in a huge range of styles and finishes so there’s something for every style and type of interior! They are versatile and can enhance the look of any kitchen or dining room by making them more creative and visually interesting. Linear pendant lights also help to enhance the length of spaces and look fantastic when the finish of them relates to other finishes used within the room.

How to use Linear Pendant Lighting.

Linear pendant lights are best when used in kitchens for illuminating the kitchen island, or in the dining room positioned centrally above the table. This is due to the linear design of them, it makes sense to be hung above a linear-shaped piece of furniture. Depending on the layout, shape, and orientation of your living room or family room, a linear pendant light with a ceiling plate may be appropriate here too.

Linear pendant lights are available in a few different styles. The most common is hung from one electrical point in the ceiling which hangs down to a linear light piece. However, there are some linear pendants that are available with a rectangular ceiling plate for the pendants to hang from.

What to watch for.

There are some considerations to take into account when thinking of installing linear pendant lights in your home.

First you will need to check how the light fixture is wired. Is this through one or more electrical points in the ceiling? Generally, they come with one main electrical connection but changes may need to be made in order to accommodate a new fixture. If in doubt, always consult with an electrician before ordering and installing!

The biggest consideration with linear pendant lights is the style and finish of them. You should consider the room where this type of lighting will be installed and evaluate the style of the room. What other finishes have you got installed here? These are clues as to what finish your new light fixture could be so it relates to the rest of the room’s style.

The cost of linear pendant lights can vary greatly from store to store, and you will need to consider professional installation costs too.

Ways to make this trend last in your home

Linear pendant lights can last many years in your home if you choose a timeless style that works with your interior and is installed by a professional electrician if necessary.

If your home is predominantly modern and contemporary, consider fixtures that are sleek and simple in design. For farmhouse inspired homes you may prefer something finished in bronze or black metal and that have a vintage feel to the design of the light.

Match the finish of your new light fixture with a metal that has already been used in your room (a faucet, hardware or appliances) – this will help to make sure your new fixture flows with the existing style of the room.
