Round mirrors can be hung in most rooms of the home and help to bounce more natural light around the space – perfect for North facing rooms! 

How to Use Round Mirrors at Home.

Luckily, mirrors can be added to many different rooms in the home to add a sophisticated look. Rooms that work particularly well with round mirrors are the bedrooms, bathrooms, living room, dining room, and home office!

If you have a fireplace in your living room, placing a large round mirror above can make the room feel more balanced and modern. Alternatively, you could add a round mirror to a painted feature wall to make the paint color really pop!

For bathrooms, round mirrors are great for above the vanity and sink area as they add a modern touch to the room. And in bedrooms, you can hang a round mirror above the dresser or on a feature wall to help reflect natural light around the room.

Similarly, in dining rooms and home offices, round mirrors can be used as a feature on a wall to tie the room’s design together and create a cohesive interior.

There are some considerations to take into account when thinking of incorporating round mirrors into your home.

First, you should consider the size of the round mirror carefully. Too small and it will appear to be a pointless decorative piece, and too big can be overwhelming for small rooms. I always suggest to my clients that they create a paper cut-out in the size of a mirror they have seen and tape that to their wall to gauge the mirror’s size and whether it is in proportion to any furniture below and the rest of the room.

Another thing you should be aware of is the weight of the mirror, particularly if you’re looking at large sizes. Be careful when installing these and always reach out to a professional should you need advice on how much weight a wall can take.

Ways to make this trend last in your home

Adding a round mirror to any room can last for many years, even if you decide to change your walls and color scheme!

Choose a metal finish for the round mirror that will coordinate with other metal finishes used in the room. This could be from hardware or lighting. By doing this the mirror will be cohesive with the rest of the room.

You should also choose the size of the mirror carefully so that it is in proportion with the furniture below, such as sofas, console table, or vanity unit. If you’re not 100% sure about the size you should be looking for, create a paper cut-out of a medium-sized mirror you have seen online and tape that to your wall so you can see how it would look and go from there.
