We love velvet fabric because it’s soft and adds a touch of luxury and elegance to any piece of furniture. There are many different colors, and texture variations of velvet so there’s something for everyone’s taste! We particularly love to use velvet upholstery on sofas or accent chairs to inject some color into a space.

I love how there are performance fabrics readily available now, that also include velvets! This makes it a great option even for those with kids.

How to use velvet upholstery 

Velvet upholstery can be used almost anywhere in the home! You could choose velvet upholstered dining chairs, counter stools, sofas, or even accent chairs! Velvet is also a great option for using on headboards too.

What to watch out for with velvet upholstery

As with any interior design trend, there are some considerations to take into account when thinking of using velvet upholstery in your home…

Velvet fabric is typically high maintenance. It will require a lint roller to remove any dust, and steaming to clean it and ensure it’s looking its best. As velvet is a low pile fabric, it can quickly appear flat or have lots of sweep marks on as it changes texture.

We recommend using velvet upholstery on furniture that won’t be in direct sunlight to prevent any color fading.
