Why we love wood stained kitchens!

We love wood stained kitchens because there are so many different beautiful combinations that can be chosen. Wood stained cabinets bring warmth and natural texture into an otherwise clinical and sterile environment. Wooden cabinets help to break up the metals and cold materials used in this space by bringing warmth into the mix.

Another reason why we love using wood stained kitchens is the amount of choice available for homeowners. Not a fan of an orangey oak? Choose a warmer walnut stain instead!

How to use wood stained kitchens

Wood stained kitchens are fairly straightforward to add into your home. Instead of choosing painted or laminate cabinets, choose wood stained ones instead!

Wood stained cabinets can be used for the whole kitchen or for part of it to create a two-toned look. Wood stained lower cabinets look fantastic with soft neutral uppers.

What to watch out for with wood stained kitchens

As with any interior design trend, there are some considerations to take into account when thinking of adding a wood stained kitchen into your home…

While it may be tempting to completely embrace this trend and change all of the cabinets to wood stained ones, this may make the space feel smaller and darker. It’s important to consider the size of your kitchen and whether it’s south or north facing. For south facing kitchens you can get away with darker colors more easily. In north facing kitchens a two-toned look will create a more balanced and lighter look.

Another aspect to keep in mind with wood stained kitchens is the amount of different types of wood species and stains out there. This may be overwhelming to begin with, but the most common are oak and walnut.

Ways to make a wood stained kitchen last in your home

A wood stained kitchen can last a lifetime in your home!

The most important thing is to choose a wood stain that you absolutely love! This could be a gray or white stained oak, or a natural walnut. Either way, always choose a timeless look as this is less likely to look dated in years to come.
