If you haven’t needed to shop for bedding in a hot minute, you may be surprised at pricing and what the options are these days. Gone are the days of just picking out a cotton set of sheets, there are lots of other material options available now.
If you’re looking for quality and want your bed to look nicer than a college dorm, you’ll need to spend some cash. Why is this? Because natural and organic bedding is taking the industry by storm and this is an area where you get what you pay for.
So what are these Natural Bedding options and what do they mean for our slumber?
Let’s dive in and check it out!
Natural Bedding Options
You may be shocked to see so many different bedding options available and it’s perfectly normal to feel a little overwhelmed by this.
The main natural bedding options are: Linen, Organic Cotton, Hemp, Tencel, Bamboo, and Silk!
In the following sections we’re going to look at each of these natural bedding options to discuss their quality, price point, and how they can improve our sleep.
Linen
You may be reluctant to use linen bedding due to the creases it creates, however, this adds to the overall look of linen bedding. It helps to create a relaxed and effortless look in a bedroom.
Linen bedding has a lot of benefits, which include: moisture-wicking qualities, it’s a durable material, and sustainable. Over time linen bed sheets become softer with every wash.
The organic fibers of linen makes it the perfect choice for many homeowners as it is durable and strong. Linen bedding is breathable, and therefore a great option for sweaty sleepers.
Organic Cotton
Perhaps one of the most popular natural bedding options, organic cotton is available in a variety of textures: jersey, sateen, super soft, and more!
Organic cotton is a great option for natural bedding because they are breathable, soft and smooth, hypoallergenic, and haven’t been made with harmful or added chemicals. Organic cotton comes from the same plant as standard cotton but is grown without pesticides or artificial fertilizers.
The difference in price between organic cotton and normal cotton bedding is due to organic cotton being hand-picked instead of by a machine.
Organic cotton is a great option for those that love the characteristics of linen but would rather a naturally softer sheet.

Hemp
Hemp bedding is another great natural bedding option as it is a breathable material that looks and feels similar to linen. It’s a strong and durable material, very similar to that of linen.
There are many articles that suggest natural hemp bedding is more breathable, cooling, and moisture-wicking than linen. However, hemp bedding can be the more expensive option. Hemp fabric is made with more sustainable and eco-friendly methods than other fabric types which pushes these prices upwards too.
Tencel
Tencel is actually a brand name for a relatively new fiber that we’re seeing be used for rugs that have a silkiness to them. When it comes to bedding though, Tencel has a few great options that bring long-lasting comfort to the bedroom.
Tencel has Lyocell and Modal fibers that are used for their natural bedding. They are soft to the touch, have a natural sheen and silky feel to them too. In addition to that, they absorb moisture well, and help you to feel cool for a good night’s sleep.

Bamboo
Another great natural bedding option is bamboo! The natural properties of bamboo fibers allow good air circulation so your body temperature is regulated throughout the night to keep you feeling cool and comfortable. If you tend to feel hot when sleeping, bamboo is a fantastic option for bedding as it will draw moisture away from your skin.
Bamboo fibers are also naturally hypoallergenic making it a good option for those that suffer from allergies. Bamboo bedding is durable and usually offers some stretch too.
Silk
Known as a premium fabric, silk bedding provides pure softness and a touch of luxury to the bedroom. Silk is softer than most other bedding materials and helps to prevent damage to your hair and skin. It’s also a less abrasive fabric and a fabulous option for those who love a luxurious slumber.
If that’s not enough, silk bedding is perfect for those with sensitive skin as it’s hypoallergenic and has moisture-wicking capabilities.
Perhaps the only downside is that silk bedding can feel slippery. Make sure to wash your silk bedding on a cool and delicate cycle to keep it in tip-top condition.
