Location: Downers Grove, Illinois
Scope: Family Room,  320 square feet

Despite having a fireplace, the space lacked a focal point. The open concept living area felt bland and needed an upgrade to work better with how their family was growing. We designed a builtin for the fireplace wall that ensured ergonomic TV placement and storage for AV components. The shelving intentionally went floor to ceiling to create a grand feeling in the space, and symmetrical storage was added for toys and game storage.

Instead of a white top or stone top, we selected cherry wood that was a perfect match to the kitchen on the other side of the space.

By removing the sectional, we were able to create more functional seating that incorporated matching recliners (yes, really!!), and a comfortable sofa.
We also incorporated family heirlooms in the space (such as the cuckoo clock) and a space for art work and photo display that captures attention when entering the room.
