Trend Alert: Soaking Tubs
Designing kitchens and bathrooms are my favorite rooms to do as an interior designer because you can be super creative with them! Gone are the days that bathrooms should be stark and sterile spaces, they are now stylish, yet practical, and geared towards self-care. Recently, many clients have requested a Soaking Tub in their bathroom designs! So this Trend Alert focuses on Soaking Tubs, and I’ll be taking you through what they are and how to incorporate them into your home.
Let’s take a closer look!
Why we love Soaking Tubs!
Soaking bathtubs provide the user with the ultimate self-care experience. We love soaking tubs because they have been linked with lots of mental and physical health benefits! Not only can a soak in the bathtub improve circulation and lower blood pressure, they can help to improve overall mood and clear sinuses (through steam and oils).
There are a number of different soaking bathtub options on the market which means there is one for every style of bathroom!
How to use soaking bathtubs.
It can be relatively straight forward to incorporate a soaking bathtub into your bathroom. If you have a corner area of the bathroom you can use a corner tub, there are freestanding bathtub options, and drop-in soaking tub options too.
What to watch for.
There are some considerations to take into account when thinking of using a soaking bathtub in your bathroom…
First, bathtubs can take up a lot of space so it may not be a viable option for smaller bathrooms, or a corner set up could be best.
When it comes to installing a soaking tub, unless you are re-configuring the entire bathroom, you will need to ensure there is drainage nearby to avoid extra costs and labor in connecting the bathtub.
You should also be aware that soaking tubs require a lot of water which can be time-consuming and costly, particularly if the one you choose is very deep.
Ways to make this trend last in your home
Soaking bathtubs can last many years in your home!
The first step for ensuring your soaking tub lasts a lifetime is to choose a style that you absolutely LOVE. Would you like to add jets in the sides? Choose one with them included so you have the option when taking a bath!
Another way to make soaking tubs last a long time in your home is to choose a configuration that really works with the bathroom layout. Don’t try to make one fit in a space that really is much too small for one! As the room could then feel very crowded.
