Why we love white oak cabinets!

White oak cabinets are fairly new to the interior design game. Oak itself has been used for many years but can often look too orangey. White oak however, is a much lighter wood that doesn’t have any orange to it at all. We love white oak cabinets because they are the perfect blend of warmth without being too dark or orange in tone! They also work extremely well with almost any color choice, making it the perfect option for many of our client’s homes.

We also love white oak cabinets because of their durability. It is more durable than many other types of hardwood, and it is heavily used in kitchens for this very reason. Other wood types may suffer from dents of dings quickly, but white oak is true to form and looks fresh for years.

How to use white oak cabinets

Using white oak cabinets in your home may seem daunting at first. But its actually fairly straightforward!

White oak cabinets can be used in the bathroom, kitchen, or as a freestanding piece of furniture. For the bathroom, consider white oak cabinets for the vanity and any full height cabinets! This will add warmth to the space. In the kitchen, use white oak cabinets for all cabinets needed, or pair with white or other color painted cabinets to create a contrasting look.

What to watch out for with white oak cabinets

There are some considerations to take into account when considering white oak cabinets in your home…

White oak cabinets are actually one of the most expensive cabinet materials on the market. Therefore, it may be more cost effective to mix white oak cabinets with painted ones in order to save money.

Similarly, white oak is an extremely durable material for cabinets, but can wear over time. This shouldn’t be an issue for the everyday home though!

Ways to make white oak cabinets last in your home

White oak cabinets can last a lifetime in your home!

White oak is a truly timeless material, irrespective of whether you use it in the kitchen, bathroom, or as a freestanding piece of furniture. If you’re looking for a timeless, good quality material for a bathroom vanity or kitchen cabinets, then white oak should be at the top of your list!

Pair your white oak cabinets with other neutral shades like cream, off-white, browns, and blacks, to make sure the grain of the white oak really pops.

To prevent your white oak cabinets from turning yellow, use a clear lacquer or water based varnish to protect the wood.
