Sherwin Williams Rainwashed – A Serene Blue-Green Paint Color

Color psychology plays an important role in our homes as the colors we choose can heavily influence our feelings and mood. Not only for us living in the spaces, but for our guests too! And we know how difficult choosing the perfect paint color is for homeowners. Many of our clients have come to us overwhelmed by the sheer number of options on the market right now.

As part of our Paint Color Article series, we’re going to dive deeper into the beautifully soft and light blue-green color that is Sherwin Williams Rainwashed SW6211!

Despite the name of Sherwin Williams Rainwashed, the color is actually classed as a “cool green” that has a hint of gray running through it too. Rainwashed may be confused with its sister color – Sea Salt – as they are very similar in tone. Sea Salt is a softer color, while Rainwashed has more depth to it.

The bluish green of this paint color provides a soft and tranquil backdrop to any space in the home.

Let’s explore Rainwashed (SW 6211)  in more detail and discuss how you can successfully use it in your own home!

Why We Love Sherwin Williams Rainwashed!

We love Sherwin Williams Rainwashed (SW 6211) because it’s a wonderfully soft paint color that adds a subtle hint of blue-green into a space. This paint color is ideal for use in bedrooms and bathrooms to create serene and relaxing atmospheres.

Another reason why we love Rainwashed is how easily it can be worked into a space! It works with many different shades of other neutral colors, like cream, beige, browns, blacks, and even grays! While Rainwashed is more on the cooler side it can easily be warmed up when paired with the right colors.

Ultimately, Sherwin Williams Rainwashed is a wonderfully calm color that is ideal for using in spaces where you need to feel more relaxed.

How to Use Rainwashed at Home

Sherwin Williams Rainwashed (SW 6211) is a great paint color for using as an all-over wall paint. We love using this paint color with crisp white and off-white colors to the ceilings and trim to really make the color pop alive!

You could use Rainwashed on cabinets in bathrooms or laundry rooms to inject a soft color to the spaces, or just use it as a feature wall color instead if you’re not feeling so brave.

Sherwin Williams Rainwashed is perfect for using in bedrooms and bathrooms to create a relaxed look and feel.

What to Watch Out for…

Similarly to any paint color you choose in your home, there are some considerations to take into account when thinking of using Sherwin Williams Rainwashed (SW 6211) in your home.

If you pair Rainwashed with too many other cool toned colors in a space, it will make everything look and feel cold. Instead, it should be used with warm shades to help balance out the undertones.

Ways to Make This Color Last in Your Home

It’s fairly easy to make Sherwin Williams Rainwashed last in your home as it’s a fun color to introduce! You can easily use this color as all-over wall paint to all four walls of a room, or simply use it as a feature wall color instead. This paint color works particularly well in North and East-facing rooms in the afternoon where it really comes alive!

Alternatively, embrace the blue-green of this color and paint your bathroom vanity unit!

Above all – make sure to use a crisp white paint color on the ceiling and trim work (like Sherwin Williams Pure White or Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace) to really make this paint color sing!

Accent Color Pairings

Sherwin Williams Rainwashed (bottom left) pairs well with a wide range of other colors! Pair it with warm colors like greige to create a balanced look. Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray (bottom right) is a great option for this.

If you’d like to reduce the blue tones of this color then use a neutral gray paint color like Sherwin Williams Pewter Cast (top right) to rebalance any cool tones.

Another option is to pair Rainwashed with deeper shades. We love how this helps to calm down the richness of Sherwin Williams Jasper (top left). Use Pure White on the trim and ceiling to watch this color combination come alive!
