I love using our home’s outdoor space during the summer to play with the kids and enjoy eating meals out there too. One of the best ways to be able to enjoy your outside space is to have an area designated for Outdoor Dining. You can define this space with an outdoor rug. How to Recognize Outdoor Dining

Outdoor dining is personal to each family because of the different activities and styles of dining. As a result, there are different approaches you can take. Typically an outdoor dining space will have a dining set of some sort; round, rectangular, with comfortable chairs or benches. The area would then be accessorized accordingly. An outdoor rug could be used to clearly define the dining area, with decorative pillows, table linens, plates, and glasses. These are the most common ways of creating an outdoor dining space!

Outdoor Dining is also known as “alfresco dining” which is hugely popular during the summer months. This type of dining is very casual and often has a party-like atmosphere.

In the Middle Ages, it was only Lords who hunted for sport in their leisure time that would partake in hunting feats that were typically held outdoors. Outdoor dining was very much something for the elite and wealthiest to enjoy. In the 18th Century, wealthy Americans used to pay for admittance to private gardens where they could enjoy food.

It was only in the Victoria era that enjoying picnics became more of a common activity, across all class boundaries. Even then though, you generally had to bring your own food to the occasion. By the 1900s this changed when the first few restaurants started to offer outdoor dining areas while the invention of the hot dog was made.

Today, people across the world love to spend time outdoors in the good, and warmer weather, particularly to socialize and enjoy food with family and friends.
