Benjamin Moore Pale Oak – An Elegant Neutral

Design consultations are one of my favorite aspects of being an interior designer because I can give my client a fresh outlook on their space. Some subtle or small changes can go a long way in improving your home without the need for anything drastic.

One of these changes is through paint! I recommend a lot of whites and beige-toned paint colors in my design consultations as these tones are some of the best for giving high traffic areas and the main living areas a neutral refresh.

A paint color I recommend a lot of time is Benjamin Moore Pale Oak (OC-20). If you like to use warm tones in your home, you’ll love Pale Oak!

Pale Oak is a beautiful and soft shade – a gorgeous neutral color suitable for many areas of the home. Let’s take a closer look!

Why We Love It!

We love Benjamin Moore Pale Oak because it’s a light and warmer greige (gray/beige combination) that leans more towards warmer than other more traditional greiges. If you love Edgecomb Gray, then Pale Oak is a slightly lighter version making it perfect for North-facing rooms where natural light is minimal.

Pale Oak is the perfect all-over wall paint color for foyers, hallways, and formal rooms like dining, living, and bedrooms. It’s a sophisticated color that conveys a sense of style.

How to Use Pale Oak at Home

Benjamin Moore Pale Oak is a really diverse paint color and can be used in a wide range of ways…

Perhaps the most obvious is using this paint color on the walls. It’s a great color to use in the hallway, living room, dining room, and bedrooms. You could even use it within bathrooms and the laundry room too. This neutral paint color is a great choice for anyone looking for a good neutral color throughout their home to supplement with other colors through furniture and accessories.

You could even use Pale Oak for kitchen cabinets… Paired with navy blue island cabinets and brushed gold hardware – you have a great set of colors and finishes for a kitchen refresh! In the bathroom, Pale Oak is a good choice for a neutral vanity unit.

What to Watch Out for…

Deciding on any paint color for your home is a challenge and there are some things you should watch out for with Benjamin Moore Pale Oak.

We don’t recommend painting all surfaces in Pale Oak as the space will look very flat with no life to it. You should pair this paint color with white painted trim and ceilings to make it really stand true to itself. Always make sure to ask the staff at your local paint shop or hardware store for advice on which paint type to use for different surfaces.

There is also the risk of having “too much beige” if this paint color is paired with a lot of other similar colors. For example, we don’t recommend using a similar beige color for furniture or flooring in the space where this is painted on the wall because there won’t be enough visual interest. While beige itself is a really versatile color for walls, too much of the color can be too much.

Ways to make this color last in your home…

Benjamin Moore’s Pale Oak is a truly timeless neutral paint color, where it’s hard to go wrong! With the many different ways you can use this color in your home (see some ideas above) there really is something for everyone.

If you are someone that prefers a minimalistic look or an elegant and well put together home, this paint color will help you to do just that. It provides you with a gorgeous neutral base from which you build from with other colors of your choice. Pair Pale Oak with rich and deep hues to really create a timeless interior that you’ll love for many years to come.
