Benjamin Moore White Heron – The Brightest Off-White
Are you looking for a white paint color for your home? With so many different shades, undertones, and paint brands, it’s a complete minefield when it comes to making a decision. Another aspect of choosing paint colors for the home is that there is no right or wrong! And this quickly sends homeowners into a spin.
Next up on our list of tried and tested paint colors is Benjamin Moore White Heron (OC-57)!
Here at Innovatus Design, we are on a mission to take the unknown out of choosing paint colors, so you can be confident in your choices.
While there are many white paint colors on the market – did you know “pure white” isn’t strictly true? – you may be on the lookout for one that leans more into the colder side than warm. Benjamin Moore White Heron (OC-57) is among the few white paint colors that are actually close to being a true white color.
Benjamin Moore White Heron (OC-57) is one of their best-selling paint colors that everyone should be aware of. While Benjamin Moore White Dove is the most popular and widely used white paint color, White Heron is a very similar color.
Let’s explore White Heron in more detail and discuss how you can use it in your own home!
Why We Love Benjamin Moore White Heron!
With a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of 86.69, it is closer to the lightest (LRV=100) end than the darker (LRV=0) one. This makes Benjamin Moore White Heron one of the closest white paint colors to being actually white, than many others available on the market.
Benjamin Moore White Heron (OC-57) is one of the brightest white paint colors, with the slightest cool undertones which makes it suitable for a wide variety of applications in the home. We love having different white paint colors up our sleeves for our design clients, because you never know when you need to add a cool touch to a space!
For a warm white paint color, try Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee or Sherwin Williams Snowbound!
How to Use White Heron at Home
Benjamin Moore White Heron (OC-57) is a great white paint color for using on ceilings, trim, and cabinetry. We love using White Heron with crisp grays and black colors as a well balanced look can be achieved.
You could even use White Heron on cabinets in the kitchen or vanity in the bathroom. However our favorite way to use this cool off-white paint color is on the ceiling and trim work of a space.
What to Watch Out for…
With any paint color you choose, there are some considerations to take into account!
As Benjamin Moore White Heron is a cool off-white color it can quickly look like primer in a space if it’s paired with dark earthy granite countertops, for example. For this reason we recommend using this paint color on the ceiling and trim, or any cabinetry items like a fireplace surround.

Making White Heron last in your home is relatively straight forward. With the different ways you can use this paint color (see above for ideas) there is something for every space! As one of the brightest white paint colors on the market, there is no doubt as to whether it will work in your interior.
Using a crisp white paint color for your trim and ceiling is a timeless look that will never go out of style, and we go back to time and time again. Integrate this color into your home’s accessories to indulge in neutral tones to blend seamlessly with other colors used in your space.
